What I'm reading in February

I love the beginning of the month as I have an excuse to delve in to my vast pile of unread books and choose a few that I plan to read.

Much like last month, I have unwittingly produced another colour theme. (My OCD is clearly out of control!) I'm really excited about this month's pile as there are books in here that I've wanted to read for the longest time.

I've already started Andy Miller's A Year of Reading Dangerously, that was kindly lent to me by a work colleague. This type of book is a bit of a change for me, as I rarely read non-fiction. However, this is all about one mans journey to read all of the classic and contemporary novels he'd claim to have completed. I'm really enjoying it so far, and it's already opened my eyes to a few new books that I'd like to read in the future.

As for the others, I've had this copy of The Help for a while. I managed to pick up both this and Memoirs of a Geisha for 50p at a car-boot sale a couple of years back. I've seen (and loved) the film, so there's no doubt that I'll enjoy the book, as well.

It's Kind of a Funny Story is another book that I pledged to read after enjoying the film adaptation. This is a YA novel about a boy who voluntarily checks himself into a mental-health clinic after experiencing suicidal thoughts. The story in the film is mainly about all of the different characters he meets and I'm looking forward to meeting them all again on the pages.

And finally The Book Thief. I'm so pleased that I will finally be reading this novel! For the longest time it felt like I was the only person in the world who hadn't read this book. Set during World War II, we follow a young girl who steals books and shares them with others. I've heard that it's narrated by Death, which I think is such an interesting concept. I can't wait to get stuck in!
